I've spent July and August working away on new art - specifically imagery for the upcoming Kickstarter campaign but also some concept pieces. It's really hard to find the time (and discipline!) to draw pen sketches or work in Photoshop - but I'm always glad afterwards.

I don't follow boxing much these days but my current inspiration are the words of Oleksandr Usyk, the new World Heavyweight Champion:

"I don't have motivation. I have discipline! Motivation is temporary—today you have it, tomorrow you wake up early and you don't have it. When I wake up for training, I never have motivation, I only have discipline."

So, attached here and in following posts are all this new art. Some are small, fun little images while others are more "serious" or technical work. All of it has some value to the project - directly, as images for Facebook ads or for the Kickstarter page - or even as posters (actual, theatrical size posters!).

First, images for Kickstarter:

Each of these is for a reward or a pledge tier for the upcoming Kickstarter campaign. I've tried to keep the images a little light-hearted but also period-relevant. Adding in some modern touches (a Laptop? a TV Remote? In the War of 1812? Whaaaat!??) helps add a touch of fun and individuality to each image.

As part of this process I researched and worked up a series of rank insignias, where each pledge tier will get a different "rank" from Sergeant ($25) all the way up to General ($1,000).

Now that I look at it I think there is a discrepancy - the "General" level shows a English King (George III) or an Irish politician (Henry Grattan, I liked his blue coat as a visual contrast). But really I should either move them out of the "ranking" concept or replace them with proper images of military figures.

Oh well, the work of Art never ends!
